24 Filipinos killed in election violence

In a country with a long history of violence during elections, this incident is one of the worst in recent memory. A group of more than 40 people, including lawyers, journalists and relatives of a local politician, were kidnapped by armed men and military officials now say at least 24 of them were killed. The bodies were recovered on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, an area often affected by election violence. Twenty-two people remain unaccounted for.
