NEWFLASH: Repo rate falls by 50 basis points

The South African Reserve Bank's monetary policy committee has cut the repo rate by 50 basis points, Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus announced on Thursday afternoon. The repo rate now stands at 5.5%, with prime at only 9%.
