Last travelgate accused pleads guilty

Former Bathong Travel CEO Mpho Lebelo pleaded guilty of fraud and will cede R3.5 million to the State. She was also handed a seven-year jail sentence, suspended for three years, by Judge John Hlophe in the Cape High Court on Tuesday. Lebelo, who submitted false claims to Parliament and validated bad claims, was the last of 37 MPs and travel agents who appeared before court for embezzling parliamentary travel vouchers.
