The phrase “sub-Saharan Africa” must go, says Celebrate Africa Foundation

The Celebrate Africa Foundation has called on editors across the world to discontinue using the phrase "sub-Saharan Africa". According to the foundation, the phrase is a "pejorative term" that is "disparaging and contemptuous". The foundation plans to gather 2 million signatures in their petition, which will be handed to world leaders and global organisations. The foundation has not yet offered an alternative name it considers more politically correct. Read more: CNN
