MDC: make illegal Zimbabweans SA citizens
The local secretary of the Movement for Democratic Change said that Zimbabweans who have fake passports should be granted full citizenship status by Home Affairs. Ngqabutho Dube said that since these illegal Zimbabweans were using these fake passports to register for property loans, open businesses and suchlike, it would be easier to simply grant these people full citizenship rather than having them bother with applying via conventional means. This came after Home Affairs said it would grant "amnesty" to Zimbabweans using fake ID books, and normalise their status as immigrants. Read more: Sapa, via TimesLive
