Civil servant strike officially over, for now
The government unions have announced that the three-week civil servant strike has been suspended. A settlement has not yet been reached, but the strikers, who include nurses and teachers, will return to work while final negotiations continue. The unions have announced a 21-day deadline for a deal to be reached, and will use this time to consult with their members. They have threatened to go back on strike if the current government offer is withdrawn before then.
