Thailand lifts state of emergency in three more provinces
The Thai government has lifted the state of emergency, in force since April, in three more provinces, after liftting it in five provinces on 6 July. However, Bangkok is one of 16 provinces where the emergency is still imposed. This means that political gatherings of more than five people are prohibited, making campaigning for a parliamentary by-election in Bangkok on Sunday effectively illegal.
