Gillard leading Australian election polls - by far

Australian voters are in favour of retaining Julia Gillard as their prime minister, according to a poll on Monday in the Australian newspaper. Gillard found favour with 57% of people surveyed, while opposition leader Tony Abbott came in at a distant 27%. The Australian elections are set to take place on 21 August.
